Edwardian style conservatory with Re-Flex smart glass roof by Harp Windows

We use two roofing systems at Harp: Ultraframe for a uPVC conservatory or Quantal for an aluminium

conservatory. Both manufacturers are leaders in the specialist design and manufacture of custom-made,

hand-finished conservatory and orangery roof systems that are innovative, stylish and durable.

Conservatory styles

A variety of classic styles of conservatory are available in both uPVC and aluminium systems:

An aesthetically pleasing classic style that generally suits all house styles

from period to new build;
Usually comprises of a 3-facet or 5-facet bay front;
Variety of styles and glazing options available;
Probably the most popular style of conservatory.

The Victorian

More angular in shape than the Victorian, this is a classic style with clean lines and a rectangular or square flat fronted projection;
Variety of styles and glazing options available;
Available in single-ended or double-ended styles;
The single-ended version (shown) is probably the most popular form of this style.

The Edwardian

The simplest conservatory style and a popular choice for cottages and

bungalows;
Rectangular in shape with a flat angled sloping roof, the lean-to makes the

best use of available space constraints;
Remodelled with a steeper pitched roof and bold modern colours, the lean-to

conservatory is now a popular contemporary style choice.

Solar control smart glass: cooler in summer, warmer in winter
RE-FLEX™ is the next generation of conservatory roof glass designed specifically for the British weather.

This "smart glass" or "solar control glass" as it is more commonly known, uses an

invisible metallic coating which is applied to the glass using the latest coating

technology. Research has shown that 80% of conservatory owners will spend

over £1000 on internal blinds within eighteen months of purchasing a

conservatory. A typical south facing installation during summer can reach

temperatures above 45°C, making the conservatory a true hot house! However,

with RE-FLEX™ high performance sealed units installed in your conservatory, the

internal temperature is reduced by 10°-15°C, allowing your conservatory to be

enjoyed for more hours every day.

How installing RE-FLEX™ glass can benefit you:

• Solar heat transfer is reduced by up to 75% compared to a standard double

  glazed unit;
• The subtle light blue tint reduces glare by up to 44% but still ensures good light

  transmission for both visual and thermal comfort;

• RE-FLEX™ offers excellent insulation properties for big savings on winter heating. Because the loss of heat

  from inside to outside is reduced, it is much easier to keep the climate indoors at an even temperature

  making savings on summer air conditioning.
• An "easy-clean" external surface treatment to the glass reduces the need for cleaning and makes dirt and

  bird mess easy to remove;
• RE-FLEX™ is twice as effective as Pilkington's K-glass at reducing solar heat.

Reflex for yourself, with our demonstration heat-lamp. You’ll be

Orangeries
Orangeries have become the new up and coming product to have. Historically a place for the cultivation of

citrus plants, the classic orangery design was originally separate from the main house. It would have had

stone built walls with large sliding sash windows and a glass roof on timber rafters with a box gutter all

round inside the parapet wall. Today the term "orangery" is less well defined, referring largely to a glazed

building with a solid roof and roof lantern, usually used as part of the main home. An orangery combines the

best features of a traditionally built room extension with the added benefits of "living under glass".

Roof lanterns
Roof lanterns are an ideal addition to a flat roof to provide natural light into the room below, and offer great

potential for transforming an otherwise dark and gloomy space. Roof lanterns represent an accessible and

affordable alternative to many conventional roofing treatments and can take many different forms, from

simple pyramids to elegant octagons, or larger rectangular hipped roof lanterns. An ideal solution for

extensions, roof lanterns can be positioned to define a particular area within a space; a kitchen island for

example, or the dining area within an open-plan kitchen/diner.
